The 2019 Silver Gala celebrates the launch of Architecture in Translation, and raises funds to support Architectural Association Public Programmes and Publications. The event will take place around a series of dinner tables, performances and an auction in our home in Bedford Square, in the centre of London. Voices from the AA and beyond − alumni, architects, artists and friends − from all around the world, will come together to eat, celebrate our history and debate our future over delicious food and wine and a programme of performances. A silent auction of works ‘In Translation’, donated by esteemed architects and artists, will be on display throughout the evening and some special works will be auctioned later in the night.
Architecture in Translation
Today there are 7111 languages spoken around the world but it is estimated that by the turn of the century nearly half of the world’s languages are likely to be extinguished. At the AA we have students from more than 81 nationalities and we speak more than 40 languages. To celebrate and build on this diversity, and to recognise the value of language in the production of space and ideas, this year we are launching Architecture in Translation, a project that aims to build a multilingual and multicultural approach to architecture today.
A limited number of tickets are available below.
