On November 19th the AA hosted the annual
and welcomed over 120 guests to our home in Bedford Square with AA spirit embedded into the walls, the music and the good company we shared. We would like to thank all who attended and donated towards the Silver Gala.
The night was a great success with over £50,000 raised so far towards AA Public Programmes and Publications. We announced the new AA Wood Lab, made possible by a generous donation from John Makepeace, and launched Architecture in Translation with an exhibition of donated works currently on view at the AA until 6 December. We held a silent auction on the night and there are still a few items available for you to bid on.

The 2019 Silver Gala celebrated the launch of Architecture in Translation, and raised funds to support Architectural Association Public Programmes and Publications. Voices from the AA and beyond came together to eat, celebrate our history and debate our future over delicious food and wine and a programme of performances.
Architecture in Translation
Today there are 7111 languages spoken around the world but it is estimated that by the turn of the century nearly half of the world’s languages are likely to be extinguished. At the AA we have students from more than 81 nationalities and we speak more than 40 languages. To celebrate and build on this diversity, and to recognise the value of language in the production of space and ideas, this year we are launching Architecture in Translation, a project that aims to build a multilingual and multicultural approach to architecture today.
